Knowing how to take care of your exercise trampolines is a must for every user. As long as you are well-versed in its proper care and maintenance, a trampoline can be a very worthwhile investment.
Here are some tips on the proper care of an exercise trampoline, and how to use it safely.
-Avoid tying the pads of your trampoline frame too tightly. Bad weather can cause the straps to be pulled out if they are too tight.
-Don’t use chemicals when you clean the padding of your trampoline frame. This can only damage and wear down the pads, which will eventually render them useless.
-Do not allow your children to play with the frame pads. This should serve to protect them and playing with them can cause damage to the pads.
-In the same vein, keep all animals, whether strays or pets, far away from the trampoline. If you want to let your pets play in the yard, make sure it is in an area that is far from or fenced away from the trampoline. They will not be able to resist chewing or playing with the trampoline, and may end up ripping or tearing it in parts.
-When you use an enclosure, make sure that you cut out the skirt at the pole areas. If the skirt lies next to the pole, pad strain can cause the ripping of the skirt seams.
-When you set up exercise trampolines outdoors, make sure it is on level ground. Avoid rough terrain. Also make sure that the place is free from objects and trees. If the trampoline is a big one, jumpers may bounce high enough to land on a roof or treetop somewhere. You do not want to run this risk.
-If you have a safety enclosure, use it especially if children will be playing on the trampoline. That way, if they miss the target at the center of the trampoline, or somehow jump the wrong way, they do not risk falling off the trampoline.
-Make sure that a frame pad covers the spring system. Springs are very sharp and can cause serious injury without the necessary protection.
-If the height of the trampoline off the ground is a bit high and if some of the users are children, a good idea would be to dig a pit with a flat bottom and place the trampoline on it. That way, the trampoline would still be more or less level with the ground.
-If children are to use the trampoline, make sure you create and strictly implement a set of rules and regulations on its usage. If you have older children, teach them to look out for the younger ones in case you will not be there to supervise them. Do supervise them on their first use and reprimand them firmly if they break any of the rules. Stress that this is for their own safety and remind them each time they are about to play on the trampoline.
-Make sure that the grounds around the trampoline are shock absorbers such as soft soil and grass. This is to minimize the impact just in case a jumper falls off the trampoline.
-Make sure that all bouncers remove jewelry and other sharp objects on their body, clothes, or in their pockets such as pens or keys.
-If you want to do stunts on the trampoline, it is better to have somebody who knows the right way of doing them teach you, rather than using a trial-and-error method.
-As much as possible, limit the number of jumpers on the trial, depending on the size of the trampoline. Trampolines also have a weight limit, so make sure to observe it.
Exercise trampolines will pay you back with many years of healthy exercise and fun as long as you treat them with the utmost care. Not only will you lengthen their lifespan, you will also maximize your own safety. Negligence and lack of maintenance are some of the reasons that people suffer from untoward incidents and injuries on a trampoline.
